| ARTIST Frans Smit CV/Biography
My name is Frans Smit. I was born in Stellenbosch in 1976.
After i matriculated I first studied science at Stellenbosch University, although i still had a keen interest in science, I decided to study a field with more creativity, so i started with photography.
After completing 4 years at the Freestate Technikon I moved to London for 4 years. During my stay in the UK I followed various painting courses at Chelsea college of art and design, the City Lit and also the prestigious Central Saint Martins.
Currently I’m a full time artist and photographer living and working in Cape Town, I work freelance for various magazines, predominantly focusing on decor and portraiture. I am very passionate about painting, it is a very fulfilling process for me.
