| ARTIST Marie Kearney CV/Biography

"My general interest lies in the depiction of the human form - at times within a non-specific environment. Often, I like to hint at the darker side of human nature.

Movement continues to be a fundamental interest, reflecting my concept of life and its evolving stages and swiftly changing emotions. ‘Undercurrent’ is an ongoing series of paintings exploring the notion of transition and spirituality.

The swimmer is symbolic of an individual journey through life with the water suggesting life’s joys and challenges. At times the swimmer is steadfast and at others, floating or buffeted by the water’s force. Like my previous work, the meaning is somewhat ambiguous, leaving scope for the viewer’s own interpretation".
